The production of seedlings in "Loukisas Farms", began in 1995 because of the inability at that time of the existing nursery units to supply the enterprise with healthy plants, hardy varieties of the same species or hybrids, that the enterprise required at specific periods of time.

Consequently, from 1995 onwards, "Loukisas Farms" developed a large and modern unit for the production of seedlings that gives assurance to both the enterprise and to its customers.

The nursery unit has a modern line for the production of seedlings, which consists of an automated tray filling machine and an automated seeding machine with a capacity of 150 to 600 plants per minute, depending on the seeding trays.

Sprouting of is accomplished in a special sprouting chamber, where we achieve the maximum sprouting ability of the seeds, by controlling the sprouting conditions (temperature, humidity, lighting).

Once we have secured the immediate, correct and universal sprouting of seeds, the trays are transported to a specially designed area (nursery) with an electronically controlled environment, so that the optimum growing conditions can be attained, observing precisely the current "recipes" for each plant species.

The result could not be other than success in the quality and in the reliability of the guarantied dates of delivery of the plants. It is up to the producer to request technical assistance during the development of the plants, which is provided by the specialized agriculturist of the enterprise.

In this manner, the enterprise has full control which is required in order to assure a high-volume and high-quality production.
